For those of you who don’t know me (or didn’t read my “About Me” page), my name is Alana and I am an avid health and fitness fanatic with a strong interest in nutrition and anything to do with food basically! This blog is something I have been meaning to start for a long time but never got round to it, or should I say never made the time for it. I know there are a million and more blogs like this on the internet these days but it’s something I feel will help not only me, but my clients and maybe even you! If you are someone with an interest in exercise and healthy food then follow me on my journey and learn some things along the way.
The name of this blog as you can see is Calories and Carbs as I feel they are 2 words taken much too seriously in the fitness world. Two words that will also be talked about a lot in this blog. A lot of misinformation has led lots of people I know to becoming calorie obsessed whilst still not actually knowing a lot about calories themselves and what they are or do. Carbs, carbs, carbs. Where to begin! Low carb diet, no carb diet, carb cycling, good carbs, bad carbs, no carbs before Marbs; where do we begin!? Who’s right and who is wrong? All I can say is don’t listen to all you hear or see on social media websites, just because it may be a health and fitness page and tells you carbs are the devil, don’t go and cut out carbs from your diet.
Learn the facts!
Any information I mention here regarding topics such as this, I will 100% back up with evidence and tell you where you too can go and research it. I do a lot of reading; books, articles, journals, online blogs etc and the difference in information being spread across the net is scary. And people who are uneducated on the subject believe things they shouldn’t, through no fault of their own. So, any topics i write about will be backed up with research and scientific evidence. I will be blogging on my day-to-day life as a Personal Trainer & Soccer Coach, as well as what I’m up to in my busy personal life also 🙂 The main aim of this is to try to help as many people as possible leave behind the fad diets that are forever in the media and to try to get an understanding of real nutrition and training by breaking it down as simply as possible.
Keep in mind a lot of the information and tips shared here will be from my personal experience on what works and what doesn’t, as well as my personal opinion on certain topics that are up for debate regularly in the fitness world.
Follow me on instagram and Facebook to not miss a thing! The first official post will be published tomorrow, Oct 8th, so stay tuned and get connected!
