As we lean towards the second half of the month, I hope all those resolutions and great intentions haven’t gone out the window yet!
As you are well aware, those who make unrealistic resolutions rarely stick to them, so I hope you chose wisely & kept things simple.
If you told yourself you were going to drink more water every day, and you started off great, yet you are starting to slack now, then get back on it! Re-introduce the small goals you gave yourself at the start of the month.
If you have forgotten about them already then they can’t have meant too much to you.
Know your ‘Why’.
What are your goals, small & big, and WHY are they important to you? There’s no such thing as unrealistic goals, you should consistently be working towards whatever it is that makes you tick. Whatever it is that makes you want to jump out of bed in the morning.
If you hate waking up knowing you have to go into a job you don’t like & work for someone else, to help them achieve their goals, then I hope you are working alongside that job towards doing what you love eventually!
I read something interesting recently, I can’t remember the author, but he said that he would get people coming to him, asking him to help them figure out what it is they should be/go on to do in college.
He asked them a simple question to start:
“If money wasn’t an issue, what would you want to do?”
What would make you so happy that you would put your heart & soul into doing that job?
Most of the replies were ‘unrealistic’ jobs in their eyes, jobs that wouldn’t make them enough money, jobs that aren’t seen to be the ‘top jobs’ to be in nowadays. Painters, Poets, etc. But what’s to say you do choose a career that you would genuinely love?
Surely there is more chance of you making a name for yourself, making a proper career for yourself, if you choose that path because you will put your heart & soul into it!
Your passion will push you to better yourself. Surely that’s what we should be teaching the next generation?!
‘We define success’.
This mentality of money over passion has been passed down to us over the years, so it’s no surprise, because money has become the sole purpose of our careers. Where is there money to be made? Ah sure I’ll study that then…..
What is the point in making yourself miserable your whole life, working in a job you hate? Is it so you can turn around when you retire & say you made a shitload of money?
I’d rather be able to say I worked my whole life fulfilling my dreams & goals, doing something I love every day, all the while it didn’t even feel like work.
‘Most people go through life quietly & softly, tip-toeing to an early grave’.
Maybe it’s your body you want to change?
Well what is your why? Is your reason good enough to make you want to do what it takes every single day? Do you actually want it bad enough that you will sacrifice the things you want to get to where you want to be? Does the idea of the results excite you?
If not, then your ‘Why’ isn’t good enough.
You won’t succeed in whatever it is you are trying to do until you come up with a ‘Why’ that makes you want to spend every day pushing yourself towards that goal.
“When you want to succeed as bad as you want to breathe, then you’ll be successful”.
Stop making excuses for not reaching your goals, no matter how big or small, no matter what aspect of life. Figure out your ‘Why’ and make it happen!
